The Material Storefront is the central unit of a material reuse system. Materials are collected from various studios and brought to the cart, and the cart redistributes them. It asks participants to reconsider how they discard their waste, and to reevaluate the usefulness of what was previously considered trash. The Material Storefront implicates all makers, displaying their refuse and asking them to creatively reassess it.

 

As part of a system put in place at my university, it asked printmakers, sculptors, painters,photographers and designers to consider the materials that each of the others have discarded, and create new work that transcends disciplinary boundaries.
